1. Terauchiana Matsumura, 1915 taxonomy
Terauchiana Matsumura, 1915 is currently considered as a valid taxon of genus rank in the family Delphacidae Leach, 1815 of the Fulgoromorpha. This genus was first described by Matsumura S. in 1915 in the following paper: Neue Cicadinen Koreas.. Transactions of the Sapporo Natural History Society. Sapporo, 5: 154-184.
It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Delphacoidea Leach, 1815, family Delphacidae Leach, 1815, subfamily Stenocraninae Wagner, 1963.
Currently 4 species have been described in Terauchiana, as summarized in Table 1.
Terauchiana is an extant taxon.
2. Terauchiana Matsumura, 1915 geographical distribution and bioregions
According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Terauchiana Matsumura, 1915 are known from the Palaearctic biogeographical region as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the Eurasian and Japanese zoogeographic regions as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Terauchiana Matsumura, 1915 arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.
3. Terauchiana Matsumura, 1915 biological interactions
As all planthoppers, Terauchiana Matsumura, 1915 are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects.
