1. Iubsoda Nast, 1975 taxonomy

Iubsoda Nast, 1975 is currently considered as a valid taxon of genus rank in the family Delphacidae Leach, 1815 of the Fulgoromorpha. This genus was first described by Nast J. in 1975 in the following paper: On some Mediterranean Delphacidae (Homoptera, Auchenorrhyncha) described by S. Matsumura. Annales Zoologici Warszawa, 33: 1-14.

It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Delphacoidea Leach, 1815, family Delphacidae Leach, 1815, subfamily Delphacinae Leach, 1815, tribe Delphacini Leach, 1815.

Currently 5 species have been described in Iubsoda, as summarized in Table 1.

The type species of the genus is Iubsoda stigmatica (Melichar, 1897).

Iubsoda is an extant taxon.

2. Iubsoda Nast, 1975 geographical distribution and bioregions

According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Iubsoda Nast, 1975 are known from the Afrotropical and Palaearctic biogeographical regions as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the African, Eurasian and Saharo-Arabian zoogeographic regions as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Iubsoda Nast, 1975 arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.

3. Iubsoda Nast, 1975 biological interactions

As all planthoppers, Iubsoda Nast, 1975 are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects; they mainly feed on host plants belonging to the order: Poales (Poaceae).
Figure 3a depicts the orders of plants on which Iubsoda Nast, 1975 feeds, and figure 3b the percentage they represent in the diet for the entire genus. Figures 4a and 4b do the same more precisely for the family level of these plants.
