1. Olmiana Guglielmino, Bückle & Emeljanov, 2010 taxonomy

Olmiana Guglielmino, Bückle & Emeljanov, 2010 is currently considered as a valid taxon of genus rank in the family Achilidae Stål, 1866 of the Fulgoromorpha. This genus was first described by Bückle C., Emeljanov A. F. and Guglielmino A. in 2010 in the following paper: Olmiana argentina, a new genus and species of Achilidae (Hemiptera, Fulgoromorpha) from Argentina. Zootaxa, 2661: 47-58.

It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Fulgoroidea Latreille, 1807, family Achilidae Stål, 1866, subfamily Achilinae Stål, 1866, tribe Achilini Stål, 1866, subtribe Achilina Stål, 1866.

Olmiana is monospecific. The type species of the genus is Olmiana argentina Guglielmino, Bückle & Emeljanov, 2010.

Olmiana is an extant taxon.

2. Olmiana Guglielmino, Bückle & Emeljanov, 2010 geographical distribution and bioregions

According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Olmiana Guglielmino, Bückle & Emeljanov, 2010 are known from the Neotropical biogeographical region as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the South American zoogeographic region as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Olmiana Guglielmino, Bückle & Emeljanov, 2010 arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.

3. Olmiana Guglielmino, Bückle & Emeljanov, 2010 biological interactions

As all planthoppers, Olmiana Guglielmino, Bückle & Emeljanov, 2010 are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects; they mainly feed on host plants belonging to the order: Fagales (Nothofagaceae).
Figure 3a depicts the orders of plants on which Olmiana Guglielmino, Bückle & Emeljanov, 2010 feeds, and figure 3b the percentage they represent in the diet for the entire genus. Figures 4a and 4b do the same more precisely for the family level of these plants.
