1. Ecdelphax Yang, 1989 taxonomy
Ecdelphax Yang, 1989 is currently considered as a valid taxon of genus rank in the family Delphacidae Leach, 1815 of the Fulgoromorpha. This genus was first described by Yang Chung-Tu in 1989 in the following paper: Delphacidae of Taiwan (II). National Science Council (NSC), Special publication, 6: 1-334.
It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Delphacoidea Leach, 1815, family Delphacidae Leach, 1815, subfamily Delphacinae Leach, 1815, tribe Delphacini Leach, 1815.
Currently 4 species have been described in Ecdelphax, as summarized in Table 1.

Ecdelphax is an extant taxon.
2. Ecdelphax Yang, 1989 geographical distribution and bioregions
According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Ecdelphax Yang, 1989 are known from the Oriental and Palaearctic biogeographical regions as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the Eurasian, Indo-Malayan and Japanese zoogeographic regions as defined by Holt (2013).
