1. Hemisphaerius delectabilis var. alikangensis Schumacher, 1915 taxonomy
Hemisphaerius delectabilis var. alikangensis Schumacher, 1915 is currently considered as a valid taxon of subspecies rank in the family Issidae Spinola, 1839 of the Fulgoromorpha. This subspecies was first described by Schumacher F. in 1915 in the following paper: Homoptera in H. Sauter's Formosa-Ausbeute. Supplementa Entomologica, 4: 108-142.
It is currently classified in family Issidae Spinola, 1839, subfamily Hemisphaeriinae Melichar, 1906, tribe Hemisphaeriini Melichar, 1906, subtribe Hemisphaeriina Melichar, 1906, genus Hemisphaerius Schaum, 1850, species Hemisphaerius delectabilis Schumacher, 1914.
Hemisphaerius delectabilis var. alikangensis is an extant taxon.
2. Hemisphaerius delectabilis var. alikangensis Schumacher, 1915 geographical distribution and bioregions
According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Hemisphaerius delectabilis var. alikangensis Schumacher, 1915 are known from the Palaearctic biogeographical region as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the Eurasian zoogeographic region as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Hemisphaerius delectabilis var. alikangensis Schumacher, 1915 arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.
3. Hemisphaerius delectabilis var. alikangensis Schumacher, 1915 biological interactions
As all planthoppers, Hemisphaerius delectabilis var. alikangensis Schumacher, 1915 are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects.
