1. Tambinia pitho Fennah, 1970 taxonomy
Tambinia pitho Fennah, 1970 is currently considered as a valid taxon of species rank in the family Tropiduchidae Stål, 1866 of the Fulgoromorpha. This species was first described by Fennah R. G. in 1970 in the following paper: The Tropiduchidae collected by the Noona Dan Expedition in the Philippines and the Bismarck Archipelago (Insecta, Homoptera, Fulgoroidea). Steenstrupia, 1: 61-82.
It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Fulgoroidea Latreille, 1807, family Tropiduchidae Stål, 1866, subfamily Tropiduchinae Stål, 1866, tribe Tambiniini Kirkaldy, 1907, genus Tambinia Stål, 1859.
Tambinia pitho is an extant taxon.
2. Tambinia pitho Fennah, 1970 geographical distribution and bioregions
According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Tambinia pitho Fennah, 1970 are known from the Oriental biogeographical region as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the Indo-Malayan zoogeographic region as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Tambinia pitho Fennah, 1970 arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.
3. Tambinia pitho Fennah, 1970 biological interactions
As all planthoppers, Tambinia pitho Fennah, 1970 are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects.
