1. Aphaena (Aphaena) submaculata burmanica Distant, 1906 taxonomy
Aphaena (Aphaena) submaculata burmanica Distant, 1906 is currently considered as a valid taxon of subspecies rank in the family Fulgoridae Latreille, 1807 of the Fulgoromorpha. This subspecies was first described by Distant W. L. in 1906 in the following paper: The fauna of British India, including Ceylon and Burma.3: 1-503.
It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Fulgoroidea Latreille, 1807, family Fulgoridae Latreille, 1807, subfamily Aphaeninae Blanchard, 1847, tribe Aphaenini Blanchard, 1847, genus Aphaena Guérin-Méneville, 1834, subgenus Aphaena (Aphaena) Guérin-Méneville, 1834, species Aphaena (Aphaena) submaculata (Duncan, 1843).
Aphaena (Aphaena) submaculata burmanica is an extant taxon.
2. Aphaena (Aphaena) submaculata burmanica Distant, 1906 geographical distribution and bioregions
According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Aphaena (Aphaena) submaculata burmanica Distant, 1906 are known from the Oriental biogeographical region as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the Oriental zoogeographic region as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Aphaena (Aphaena) submaculata burmanica Distant, 1906 arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.
3. Aphaena (Aphaena) submaculata burmanica Distant, 1906 biological interactions
As all planthoppers, Aphaena (Aphaena) submaculata burmanica Distant, 1906 are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects.
