1. Haplaxius akko (Kramer, 1979) taxonomy
Haplaxius akko (Kramer, 1979) is currently considered as a valid taxon of species rank in the family Cixiidae Spinola, 1839 of the Fulgoromorpha. This species was first described by Kramer J. P. in 1979 in the following paper: Taxonomic study of the planthopper genus Myndus in the Americas (Homoptera: Fulgoroidea: Cixiidae). Transactions of the American Entomological Society, 105: 301-389.
It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Delphacoidea Leach, 1815, family Cixiidae Spinola, 1839, subfamily Cixiinae Spinola, 1839, tribe Oecleini Muir, 1922, genus Haplaxius Fowler, 1904.
Haplaxius akko is an extant taxon.
2. Haplaxius akko (Kramer, 1979) geographical distribution and bioregions
According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Haplaxius akko (Kramer, 1979) are known from the Neotropical biogeographical region as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the Panamanian zoogeographic region as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Haplaxius akko (Kramer, 1979) arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.
3. Haplaxius akko (Kramer, 1979) biological interactions
As all planthoppers, Haplaxius akko (Kramer, 1979) are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects.
