1. Neopunana robusta (Caldwell, 1951) taxonomy

Neopunana robusta (Caldwell, 1951) is currently considered as a valid taxon of species rank in the family Delphacidae Leach, 1815 of the Fulgoromorpha. This species was first described by Caldwell J. S. in 1951 in the following paper: Review of the auchenorynchous Homoptera of Puerto Rico." Part II. The Fulgoroidea except Kinnaridae. Journal of Agriculture of the University of Puerto Rico, [1950], 34(2) : 133-269.

It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Delphacoidea Leach, 1815, family Delphacidae Leach, 1815, subfamily Asiracinae Motschulsky, 1863, tribe Neopunanini Emeljanov, 1995, genus Neopunana Asche, 1983.

Neopunana robusta is an extant taxon.

2. Neopunana robusta (Caldwell, 1951) geographical distribution and bioregions

According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Neopunana robusta (Caldwell, 1951) are known from the Neotropical biogeographical region as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the Panamanian zoogeographic region as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Neopunana robusta (Caldwell, 1951) arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.

3. Neopunana robusta (Caldwell, 1951) biological interactions

As all planthoppers, Neopunana robusta (Caldwell, 1951) are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects.
