1. Ancyrini Schmidt, 1908 taxonomy

Ancyrini Schmidt, 1908 is currently considered as a valid taxon of Fulgoromorpha of tribe rank, classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Fulgoroidea Latreille, 1807, family Eurybrachidae Stål, 1862, subfamily Platybrachinae Schmidt, 1908. It was first described by Schmidt E. in 1908 in the following paper: Beiträge zur Kenntnis der Eurybrachinen. (Hemiptera-Homoptera). Zoologischer Anzeiger. Leipzig, 33: 241-247.

Ancyrini is currently only known through its extant representatives. It includes 1 genus (about 0.04% of all known extant Fulgoromorpha genera) and 7 species (about 0.05% of all known extant Fulgoromorpha species).

From a taxonomic perspective, the tribe Ancyrini is currently subdivided into 1 genus, as summarized in Table 1.

2. Ancyrini Schmidt, 1908 geographical distribution and bioregions

According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Ancyrini Schmidt, 1908 are known from the Afrotropical and Oriental biogeographical regions as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the Indo-Malayan and Oriental zoogeographic regions as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Ancyrini Schmidt, 1908 arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.

3. Ancyrini Schmidt, 1908 biological interactions

As all planthoppers, Ancyrini Schmidt, 1908 are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects.
