1. Opiconsiva tangira (Matsumura, 1910) taxonomy
Opiconsiva tangira (Matsumura, 1910) is currently considered as a valid taxon of species rank in the family Delphacidae Leach, 1815 of the Fulgoromorpha. This species was first described by Matsumura S. in 1910 in the following paper: Neue Cicadinen aus Europa und Mittelmeergebiet (Schluss). Journal of the College of Sciences, Imperial University of Tokyo. Tokyo, 27(18) : 1-38.
It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Delphacoidea Leach, 1815, family Delphacidae Leach, 1815, subfamily Delphacinae Leach, 1815, tribe Delphacini Leach, 1815, genus Opiconsiva Distant, 1917.
Opiconsiva tangira is an extant taxon.
2. Opiconsiva tangira (Matsumura, 1910) geographical distribution and bioregions
According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Opiconsiva tangira (Matsumura, 1910) are known from the Afrotropical, Nearctic, Neotropical, Oriental and Palaearctic biogeographical regions as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the African, Eurasian, Guineo-Congolian, Japanese, North American, Oriental, Panamanian and Saharo-Arabian zoogeographic regions as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Opiconsiva tangira (Matsumura, 1910) arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.
3. Opiconsiva tangira (Matsumura, 1910) biological interactions
As all planthoppers, Opiconsiva tangira (Matsumura, 1910) are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects.
