1. Chionomus dissipatus (Muir, 1926) taxonomy
Chionomus dissipatus (Muir, 1926) is currently considered as a valid taxon of species rank in the family Delphacidae Leach, 1815 of the Fulgoromorpha. This species was first described by Muir F. A. G. in 1926 in the following paper: Contributions to our knowledge of South American Fulgoroidea (Homoptera). Part I. The family Delphacidae. Bulletin. Hawaiian Sugar Planters' Association Experiment Station. Division of Entomology. Honolulu, 18: 1-51.
It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Delphacoidea Leach, 1815, family Delphacidae Leach, 1815, subfamily Delphacinae Leach, 1815, tribe Delphacini Leach, 1815, genus Chionomus Fennah, 1971.
Chionomus dissipatus is an extant taxon.
2. Chionomus dissipatus (Muir, 1926) geographical distribution and bioregions
According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Chionomus dissipatus (Muir, 1926) are known from the Nearctic and Neotropical biogeographical regions as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the Amazonian, Mexican, North American, Panamanian and South American zoogeographic regions as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Chionomus dissipatus (Muir, 1926) arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.
3. Chionomus dissipatus (Muir, 1926) biological interactions
As all planthoppers, Chionomus dissipatus (Muir, 1926) are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects.
