1. Narravertus ballista (Fennah, 1958) taxonomy
Narravertus ballista (Fennah, 1958) is currently considered as a valid taxon of species rank in the family Cixiidae Spinola, 1839 of the Fulgoromorpha. This species was first described by Fennah R. G. in 1958 in the following paper: Fulgoroidea of South-Eastern Polynesia. Transactions of the Royal Entomological Society of London, 110(6) : 117-220.
It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Delphacoidea Leach, 1815, family Cixiidae Spinola, 1839, subfamily Cixiinae Spinola, 1839, tribe Pentastirini Emeljanov, 1971, subtribe Pentastirina Emeljanov, 1971, genus Narravertus Van Stalle, 1986, and it represents the type species for its genus.
Narravertus ballista is an extant taxon.
2. Narravertus ballista (Fennah, 1958) geographical distribution and bioregions
According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Narravertus ballista (Fennah, 1958) are known from the Afrotropical biogeographical region as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the African and Guineo-Congolian zoogeographic regions as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Narravertus ballista (Fennah, 1958) arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.
3. Narravertus ballista (Fennah, 1958) biological interactions
As all planthoppers, Narravertus ballista (Fennah, 1958) are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects.
