1. Scotoeurysa nigrocacuminis (Muir, 1926) taxonomy
Scotoeurysa nigrocacuminis (Muir, 1926) is currently considered as a valid taxon of species rank in the family Delphacidae Leach, 1815 of the Fulgoromorpha. This species was first described by Muir F. A. G. in 1926 in the following paper: On some new and little-known Delphacidae from South Africa (Fulgoroidea, Homoptera). Annals and Magazine of Natural History. London. (Ser. 9), 17: 17-35.
It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Delphacoidea Leach, 1815, family Delphacidae Leach, 1815, subfamily Delphacinae Leach, 1815, tribe Delphacini Leach, 1815, genus Scotoeurysa Fennah, 1988, and it represents the type species for its genus.
Scotoeurysa nigrocacuminis is an extant taxon.
2. Scotoeurysa nigrocacuminis (Muir, 1926) geographical distribution and bioregions
According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Scotoeurysa nigrocacuminis (Muir, 1926) are known from the Afrotropical biogeographical region as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the African zoogeographic region as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Scotoeurysa nigrocacuminis (Muir, 1926) arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.
3. Scotoeurysa nigrocacuminis (Muir, 1926) biological interactions
As all planthoppers, Scotoeurysa nigrocacuminis (Muir, 1926) are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects.
