The type species of the genus is Eilithyia insularis Distant, 1912.

Eilithyia is an extant taxon.

2. Eilithyia Distant, 1912 geographical distribution and bioregions

According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Eilithyia Distant, 1912 are known from the Oriental biogeographical region as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the Indo-Malayan and Oriental zoogeographic regions as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Eilithyia Distant, 1912 arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.

3. Eilithyia Distant, 1912 biological interactions

As all planthoppers, Eilithyia Distant, 1912 are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects.
