1. Batusa pinniformis (Fowler, 1900) taxonomy

Batusa pinniformis (Fowler, 1900) is currently considered as a valid taxon of species rank in the family Acanaloniidae Amyot & Audinet-Serville, 1843 of the Fulgoromorpha. This species was first described by Fowler W. W. in 1900 in the following paper: Order Rhynchota. Suborder Hemiptera-Homoptera. (Continued). The subfamily Acanaloniinae with descriptions of the species. Biologia Centrali-Americana; contributions to the knowledge of the fauna and flora of Mexico and Central America, 1: 44-48.

It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Fulgoroidea Latreille, 1807, family Acanaloniidae Amyot & Audinet-Serville, 1843, genus Batusa Melichar, 1901.

Batusa pinniformis is an extant taxon.

2. Batusa pinniformis (Fowler, 1900) geographical distribution and bioregions

According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Batusa pinniformis (Fowler, 1900) are known from the Neotropical biogeographical region as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the Panamanian zoogeographic region as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Batusa pinniformis (Fowler, 1900) arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.

3. Batusa pinniformis (Fowler, 1900) biological interactions

As all planthoppers, Batusa pinniformis (Fowler, 1900) are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects.
