Parathiscia conjugata Melichar, 1901 is currently considered as a valid taxon of species rank in the family Tropiduchidae Stål, 1866 of the Fulgoromorpha. This species was first described by Melichar L. in 1901 in the following paper: Monographie der Acanaloniiden und Flatiden (Homoptera). Annalen des k.k Naturhistorischen Hofmuseums. Wien, 16: 178-258.
It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Fulgoroidea Latreille, 1807, family Tropiduchidae Stål, 1866, subfamily Elicinae Melichar, 1915, tribe Parathisciini Gnezdilov, 2013, genus Parathiscia Melichar, 1901, and it represents the type species for its genus.
Parathiscia conjugata is an extant taxon.
2. Parathiscia conjugata Melichar, 1901 geographical distribution and bioregions
According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Parathiscia conjugata Melichar, 1901 are known from the Afrotropical biogeographical region as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the African and Guineo-Congolian zoogeographic regions as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Parathiscia conjugata Melichar, 1901 arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.
3. Parathiscia conjugata Melichar, 1901 biological interactions
As all planthoppers, Parathiscia conjugata Melichar, 1901 are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects.
