1. Euricania aperiens (Walker, 1858) taxonomy
Euricania aperiens (Walker, 1858) is currently considered as a valid taxon of species rank in the family Ricaniidae Amyot & Audinet-Serville, 1843 of the Fulgoromorpha. This species was first described by Walker F. in 1858 in the following paper: Supplement. 1-307.
It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Fulgoroidea Latreille, 1807, family Ricaniidae Amyot & Audinet-Serville, 1843, subfamily Ricaniinae Amyot & Audinet-Serville, 1843, genus Euricania Melichar, 1898.
Euricania aperiens is an extant taxon.
2. Euricania aperiens (Walker, 1858) geographical distribution and bioregions
According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Euricania aperiens (Walker, 1858) are known from the Australasia biogeographical region as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the Polynesian zoogeographic region as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Euricania aperiens (Walker, 1858) arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.
3. Euricania aperiens (Walker, 1858) biological interactions
As all planthoppers, Euricania aperiens (Walker, 1858) are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects.
