1. Euricania subapicalis (Walker, 1870) taxonomy

Euricania subapicalis (Walker, 1870) is currently considered as a valid taxon of species rank in the family Ricaniidae Amyot & Audinet-Serville, 1843 of the Fulgoromorpha. This species was first described by Walker F. in 1870 in the following paper: Catalogue of the Homopterous insects collected in the Indian Archipelago by Mr. A. R. Wallace, with descriptions of new species. Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society. London, 10: 82-193.

It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Fulgoroidea Latreille, 1807, family Ricaniidae Amyot & Audinet-Serville, 1843, subfamily Ricaniinae Amyot & Audinet-Serville, 1843, genus Euricania Melichar, 1898.

Euricania subapicalis is an extant taxon.

2. Euricania subapicalis (Walker, 1870) geographical distribution and bioregions

According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Euricania subapicalis (Walker, 1870) are known from the Oriental biogeographical region as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the Indo-Malayan zoogeographic region as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Euricania subapicalis (Walker, 1870) arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.

3. Euricania subapicalis (Walker, 1870) biological interactions

As all planthoppers, Euricania subapicalis (Walker, 1870) are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects.
