Hemisphaerius delectabilis Schumacher, 1914 is currently considered as a valid taxon of species rank in the family Issidae Spinola, 1839 of the Fulgoromorpha. This species was first described by Schumacher F. in 1914 in the following paper: Ueber zwei kürlich beschriebene Hemisphaeriusarten von der Insel Formosa. Entomologische Rundschau. Stuttgart, 31: 14-15.

It is currently classified in family Issidae Spinola, 1839, subfamily Hemisphaeriinae Melichar, 1906, tribe Hemisphaeriini Melichar, 1906, subtribe Hemisphaeriina Melichar, 1906, genus Hemisphaerius Schaum, 1850.

From a taxonomic perspective, the species Hemisphaerius delectabilis is currently subdidivded into one subspecies: Hemisphaerius delectabilis var. alikangensis Schumacher, 1915.

Hemisphaerius delectabilis is an extant taxon.

2. Hemisphaerius delectabilis Schumacher, 1914 geographical distribution and bioregions

According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Hemisphaerius delectabilis Schumacher, 1914 are known from the Palaearctic biogeographical region as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the Eurasian zoogeographic region as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Hemisphaerius delectabilis Schumacher, 1914 arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.

3. Hemisphaerius delectabilis Schumacher, 1914 biological interactions
